The change of plasma D-dimer levels and its relation to hemorrheology and blood lipids in patients with NIDDM
Objective: In order to investingate the coagulability and fibrinolysis and its relation to hemorrheological alterations in the NIDDM patients. Methods: The plasma concentrations of D-dimer in 65 NIDDM patients and 30 healthy subjects were determined by using a sandwich ELISA; blood viscosity and serum lipids were measured simultaneously. Results: The results showed that the levels of D-dimer
blood viscosity
cholesterol and triglyceride in NIDDM patients were significantly higher than those in healthy subjects (P<0.01) .There was significantly higher level of plasma D-dimer and indexes of hemorrheology in diabetics with retinopathy than in diabetics without retinopathy(P<0.01). The level of D-dimer was correlated positively with low shear of blood viscosity
plasma viscosity and fasting blood glucose in NIDDM patients (P<0.01) .Conclusion: The above findings indicate that in NIDDM patients
there are increases in coagulability and fibrinolysis
which are closely related to alterations of hemorrheology.Plasma D-dimer is useful for monitoring coagulation and fibinolysis in NIDDM patients .
