Relationship between circulating nitric oxide level and autonomic neuropathy in diabetic patients
To investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in the pathogenesis of diabetic autonomic neuropathy (DAN)
the circulating levels of nitrite(NO-2) stable metabolic product of NO and autonomic nerve function(ANF) were measured in 40 normal subjects and 70 type 2 DM patients. The DM patiellts were divided into 40 patients with DAN and 30 patients without DAN. We found that NO concentration was markedly decreased in patients with DAN compared with normal subjects and patients without DAN
while the HbA1c、 TG、 TC and blood pressure were higher than for normal subjects and patients Without DAN.There was remarkable positive correlation between NO and Pvv. Phv and Tfp
and significant negative correlation between NO levels and HbAlc’ TG’ TC、 blood pressure and duration.Multiple linear regression suggested blood pressure
Pvv and Phv were significantly related to NO. The results suggest that decreased NO levels play important roles in the initiation and progression of DAN and is related to poor metabolic control of DM.
