Ureter replacement with an isolated ileal segment was carried out between the year 1980 and 1998 in 15cases.Observed postoperatively for 11 months to 18years
all patients were alive and healthy. Satisfactory results havebeen achieved. Strictness with operative indications has been emphasized. When the renal hilus area was narrow
the ileal segment was anastomosed proximally to the seriously proliferated calyx at the lowes part of the kidneywhere the parenchyma was the thinnest
in order to facilitate adequate drainage. The distal end was anastomosedto the urinary baldder.Complicance with the direction of peristalsis was necessary for the anastomoticstoma
which was big enough to need no anti-renux nipple.Ileal ureter replacement provies a feasible way todeal with complicated upper urinary obstructive diseases and to restore urinary continuity.
