Abstract

A soft graduated plastic thoracic catheter internallysupported by a stainless steel-core is connected to asmall plastic bottle containing a one-way-valve draining device. This small portable unit is used for draining pneumothorax with the advantage of being light and convenient for the patient to wear. Air-drainage is easier for this set of unit

sinceless resistance is to overcome than the traditionally used water-sealed draining apparatus. Seventeen among the 20 pneumothorax patients treated in. the OPD have their iungs re-expanded withinl~3 days
