INVESTIGATIONS ON ISOLATION-AND CULTURE IN VITRO OF NEWBORN PORCINE PANCREATIC ISLETS
A method for the in vitro production of newborn porcine pancreatic islellike cell clusters( ICC) by collagenase digestion and tissue culture was introduced in this paper. 2000-3000 ICC may be isolated from each newborn porcine panrreas which was digested by 6mg/ml collagenase concentration for 7-9 min and cultured for 8 days. Meanwhile
the functions both acute and chronic phase insulin secretion from the cells of the newborn porcine ICC were normal
also the fine structure of them ware excellent. It has been demonstrated that the newborn porcine ICC may be as a potential source both the studies in islet cell growth
and differentiation and xenograft transplantation ic treatment of diabetes
