A STUDY ON SPECIFICITY OF NOSOCOMIAL INFECTION AND RISK FECTORS
The specialities of nosocomial infection and risk factors on 1330 patients in a teaching hospital were investigated by prospective study from October 1989 to January 1990
The results showed the infection rates of nosoccmial infection were not the same among different wards. The total infection rate of the patients in operating departments (22.03%) was higher than that of nonoperating departments (14.26%) (x2=12.64
P<0.01) . The distribution of sites of infection showed that the infection of the upper respiratory tract
wounds
urinary tract and lung were more frequent. The duration of hospital stay with nosocomial Infection were longer than that without nosocomial infection
and the average duration of hospital day increased 2.19-fold.The fatality rate of nosocomial infection patients was also significantly increased. Among them
the patients in operating department increased 17.94-fold (RR=17.94
95%CL3.8C-84.80) and the patients in nonoperating departments increased 3.31-fold (RR = 3.31
95%CLl.69-6.47) . The rate of antibiotic resistance of bacteria isolated from nosocomial infections weres higher than those isolated from community infection at the same period. The operation
retention catheter
drainage tube and the chemotherapy(or corticoid)were the most important risk fectors for nosocomial infection
