ANTINEOPLASTIC DRUG SENSITIVITY TEST (MTT ASSAY) IN CHEMOTHERAPY OF GASTROINTESTINAL MALIGNANCY-A REPORT ON PRELIMINARY CLINICAL APPLICATION
were subjected to MTT assay using 6 antineoplastic drugs in vitro. Excluding 4 cases
2 colorectal and 2 gastric
in which the assay failed because of insufficient sampling
unsatisfactory tissue culture or contamination of the cultures
the assay succeeded in 87.9% of cases in this group. The sensitive rates for 5-fluorouracil and mitomy-cin C in colorectal cancers were 8.7% and 21.7% and those in gastric cancers were 16.7% and 33.3%. Further studies showed that there existed significant individual differences in the response of tumor cells to different drugs. We concluded that MTT assay had the advantages of quick and simple manipulation and easy to repeat
and it was suggested that it should be popularized clinically in the Treatment of malignancy
