Research progress on therapeutic value of activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma on secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage
and mitochondrial dysfunction caused by erythrocyte lysates will lead to secondary brain injury within hours to days of cerebral hemorrhage. It has been found recently that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorgamma (PPAR-γ) plays multiple roles in endogenous hematoma clearance systems. When PPAR-γ is activated
it not only plays a role in anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidation
but also mediates the role of phagocytic cells in clearing hematoma to protect neurons. Therefore
PPAR-γ may be a potential target for the treatment of secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage.
