Investigation on the status of anti-HCV treatment knowledge among doctors from China’s mainland
Objective:Hepatitis C virus infection is a serious public health problem around the world. There are about 10 million people infected with HCV in China. It is helpful to enhance HCV cure rate by investigating the doctors’ awareness of antiviral therapy knowledge. Methods:From July 2015 to June 2016
we surveyed a total of 560 doctors from 56 hospitals in 27 provinces and autonomous regions across China(Hong Kong
Macao and Taiwan were not included) via filling out questionnaire. This questionnaire survey includes awareness of doctors for HCV
choices of antiviral drugs
influencing factors of the treatment duration
understanding of direct-acting antiviral agents
et al. Results:Five hundred and two valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The proportion of women in the study was slightly higher than that of males
and the average age was 37 years old. As for the proportion of doctors from the department
the Section of Liver Disease was 43.6%
followed by infections department(38%). In the selection of antiviral therapy
93% of the doctors will choose Peg-Interferon plus Ribavirin. Among the factors that affected the doctors’ decision
only 28.6% physicians adjusted the treatment duration according to the impact of baseline viral load. For the cure index of antiviral therapy
up to 64.9%physicians are not clear about the exact concept of SVR after P/R. And during the treatment of hepatitis C
up to 93% physicians chose to discontinue treatment when the rapid virological response(RVR)was not achieved. Seventy seven percent doctors know DAAs and there are significant differences in the knowledge of DAAs among physicians in different departments(P<0.001). Conclusion:The antihepatitis C virus treatment among doctors from China’s mainland is not standardized
