Analysis of weight change and its related factors of Parkinson’s disease patients
Objective:To study the changes in body weight and related factors of Parkinson’s disease(PD)patients. Methods:One hundred and twenty-two PD patients
selected from PD Special Disease Clinic of Jiangsu Province People’s Hospital from January 2015 to October 2015
were measured by weight measuring instrument
unified Parkinson disease rate scale(UPDRS)
Hoehn-Yahr grading(H-Y)
Parkinson disease questionnaire(PDQ-39)and non-motor symptoms score(NMSS)to assess weight changes and related clinical data. A total of 100 cases outpatient medical personnel of the same period were chosen as control. Independent samples t test
and multiple linear regression analysis of data were used. Results:Body mass index(BMI)of PD patients had a significant decline compared with that of healthy adults(t=3.999
P=0.000)
mainly in fat loss.Female PD patients had a higher risk of weight loss. H-Y≥2.5 PD patients had more obvious weight loss. Conclusion:BMI reduces more evidently in PD patients than in controls. Female PD patients have a higher risk of weight loss. PD patients with H-Y≥2.5 are more prone to weight loss.
