Correlation between the cardio-ankle vascular index and cardiovascular risk factors in health examination population
Objective:To investigate the correlation between the cardio-ankle vascular index(CAVI)and cardiovascular risk factors in health examination population and to provide the proof for early intervention. Methods:Totally 5 458 cases for health examination from January to August in 2015 were enrolled in the study and divided into abnormal group(CAVI≥9.0 m/s)and normal group(CAVI<9.0m/s). The clinical data and biochemical data including blood pressure
CAVI
waist circumference
body mass index
total cholesterol
triglycerid
high density lipoprotein cholesterol
low density lipoprotein cholesterol
fasting blood glucose
urea nitrogen
and creatinine were collected and compared in two groups. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to predict the CAVI related factors. Results:The average age
male ratio
waist circumference
fasting blood glucose
diabetes proportion
urea nitrogen and the creatinine
and the proportion of high blood pressure were significantly higher in CAVI abnormal group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age
gender
hyperglycemia
high cholesterol
high blood pressure
waist circumference and creatinine were the independent influencing factors of CAVI(P<0.05). Conclusion:The increasing of age
high blood sugar
high blood pressure and abnormal creatinine significantly associate with CAVI. Thus
the screening of atherosclerosis and controlling of the blood glucose
blood pressure and creatinine in the elderly can delay the progression of atherosclerosis.
