Prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in health medical examination participants from Chongqing:a single-center study based on the ZJU index
Objective:To investigate the prevalence and to analyze the population distribution of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in 30 826 medical participants in Chongqing based on the ZJU index. Methods:Anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters were collected
and ZJU index was calculated. Statistical analysis was performed according to age
gender difference and state of NAFLD to identify the prevalence of NAFLD in the cohort. Results:Within 30 826 participants
the prevalence of NAFLD was 34.83%
while the prevalence in male sex was significantly higher than that of female sex(40.53% vs. 29.26%
χ2=431.440
P=0.000). In male sex
the prevalence of NAFLD ranged from 21.67% to 49.90%. Whilst
it ranged from 8.86% to 58.70% in the female cohort. Overall
the prevalence presented a trend of rise first then fall in male as well as increased with age in female(Ptrend=0.000). Conclusion:The overall prevalence of NAFLD was 34.83%;the prevalence was 40.53% and 29.26% for male and female
respectively. The prevalence increases with the increasing of age in general cohort in Chongqing.
