Safety and efficacy of flexible ureteroscope for renal calculus in patients with solitary kidney
Objective:To evaluate the safety and curative efficacy of flexible ureteroscope in the treatment of solitary kidney calculus. Methods:A total number of 30 patients who had the solitary kidney calculus were treated with flexible ureteroscope from October2013 to December 2015 and related clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Only two cases did not find calculus due to ureteral stricture and the rest of the patients were successfully operated. The One-time calculus clearance rate was 76.7%(23/30).Postoperative complications were noted in 16.7% of the patients(5/30). The most common complication was fever(3/30). One of the three patients suffered ureteral steinstrasse and recovered after ureteroscope. One case had perirenal hematoma and recovered after the treatment of blood stop and anti-infection. No case of severe infection and blooding was observed. Conclusion:In the case of suitable patients and experienced urologists
flexible ureteroscope for the removal of stones in the patients with solitary kidney afford a high success rate and low morbidity rate
which should be considered as the primary treatment.
