Effect of visit-to-visit blood pressure variability on the cognitive decline in patients with Alzheimer’s disease
Objective:To investigate whether visit-to-visit blood pressure variability influences the rate of cognitive decline in Alzheimer disease(AD)patients. Methods:A total of 111 patients with mild to moderate AD have completed this evaluation. Assessment of cognitive function was conducted using mini-mental state examination(MMSE) and the variation of blood pressure was recorded. Correlating analyses and multiple stepwise regression analysis were used to do statistical analysis. Results:Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that only arterial blood pressure variability can explain the decrease in MMSE score. Conclusion:Follow-up blood pressure variability is an important evaluation index of cognitive function deterioration process.
