Three-dimensional CT reconstruction and rapid prototyping technology for severe congenital scoliosis deformity
Objective:To assess the clinic value of three-dimensional CT reconstruction and rapid prototyping technology for severe congenital scoliosis deformity. Methods:Twenty patients with stiffness congenital scoliosis underwent three-dimensional reconstruction before operation. The 1∶1 model was made by rapid prototyping technique according to the data of CT scans
which was helpful to confirm the range of spinal osteotomy
spinal fusion. Comparison was made with 15 cases in non model group concerning average operation time
blood loss and abnormal correction rate. Results:Three-dimensional reconstruction CT imagines and the model accurately predicted the anomalies of apex vertebra. The average operation time and blood loss of two groups were(7.4±3.5)h
(8.5±3.2)h
(1 525±325)ml
(1 736±421)ml
respectively
P<0.05;whereas no statistical differences was observed in abnormal correction rate.Conclusion:Three-dimensional reconstruction and rapid prototyping technique are necessary for severe congenital scoliosis to reduce operation time and blood loss.
