Establishment of rat aortic stenting model and evaluation by optical coherence tomography
An animal model of aortic stenting in rats was established to provide a practical small animal platform for the study of in-stent restenosis.
Methods
2
SD male rats (
n
=18,500~700 g) were anesthetized and disinfected. Drug-eluting stents (2.5 mm×16 mm) were implanted into the abdominal aorta 10 mm above the bifurcation of the renal artery via left iliac artery incision, and the left iliac artery incision was sutured. The vessel is evaluated by optical coherence tomography(OCT) before operation, immediately after operation,1 month,2 months and 6 months after operation.
Results
2
Stents were successfully implanted into the aorta of all rats via iliac artery incision, without death or lameness. The results of OCT showed that the intima of the aorta was clear before operation, with a diameter of about 2 mm; Immediately after operation, the stent steel beam had prominent intima and good adhesion; Endothelial cell covered the stent 1 month after operation; A small amount of intimal hyperplasia was observed 2 months after operation; There was obvious intimal hyperplasia 6 months after operation, and no thrombosis was found.
Conclusion
2
The stent implantation through iliac artery incision in aorta of rats is highly feasible and can be accurately evaluated by OCT.
