a new non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic drug
has been reportedly effective in the management of rheumatoid conditions. In open clinical trials 66 patients with typical rheumatoid arthritis at various stages have been treated. The age of the patients ranged from 15-76 years. The capsule of ketoprofen (130mg/day) which synthesized by Chongqing Southwest Synthetic Pharmaceutical Factory has been given for 2 weeks to each patient and the result was evaluated at the end of each trial. Overall excellent and good results were obtained in 87.9%. Besides this study
a cross-over contrast trial was carried out in 24 patients of 66 cases. Each patient was given in dosages of 150mg daily of ketoprofen and indomethacin 75mg daily for a period of 2 weeks. Although subjective assessment of the effect favoured indomethacin
there was no significant difference between the two drugs. Fewer mild side-effects were observed with ketoprofen as compared with indomethacin. Authors pointed out in conclusion that local made ketoprofen is a safe
reliabe and effective drug for rheumatoid arthritis with the same potency as the imported material.
