Objective: To elucidate the status quo of vision and the affecting factors and provide scientific basis for the prevention of poor eyesight in primary and secondary school students. Methods: A study was conducted on the prevalence of poor eyesight among primary and secondary school students in 1999 in Dazu County

and Stepwise Procedure was utilized to study the major factors affecting vision. Results: Rate of poor eyesight of students was 44.43%. Rate of poor eyesight of male students was higher than that of females.Urban students had poorer eyesight than rural students.
