Cathepsin B expression and its relationship with microvessel density and biological behaviour in colorectal cancer
Objective: To discuss cathepsin B(CB) expression in colorectal cancer and its relationship with microvessel density (MVD) and biological behaviour. Methods: CB and MVD was detected by method of immunohistochemistry with ration and half-ration in 47 cases of colorectal cancer. Results: The prevalence of CB positive in mucinous colorectal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in non-mucinous colorectal carcinoma. There were also significant differences between mucinous colorectal carcinoma and non-mucinus colorectal cacinoma(P<0.05). The quantity of MVD in the group with CB strong positive was greater than that in the group with CB negative . There were also significant differences between them ( P<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that CB expression has corelation with MVD
invasion and metastasis in colorectal carcinoma. CB may be more important in the invasion and metastasis of mucinous colorectal carcinoma .
