Objective: To evaluate the effect and safety of domestic glutathione (GSH ) on the lowering of serum ALT
AST levels in alcoholic liver disease (ALD) by multi-center
randomized
double blind and controlled trial. Methods: 120 patients with ALD were enrolled and randomized into GSH and GLT control groups. 60 patients received continuous infusion of GSH 1200mg daily for 30d and 60 patients received GLT with the same dose
route and course as GSH .The efficacy and safety were evaluated with clinical
biochemical (ALT
AST
GGT
TC
TG and ApoAI ) parameters. Results: After 4 week treatment serum ALT AST normalization rate showed no significant difference in the two groups (75.0 %vs75.44%) and(76.67% vs 76.27 %)(P>0.05) . After 8 week treatment
there was no marked efficacy and efficacy difference between GSH and GLT groups ( 65.0% vs68.33% and 10.0% vs10.0.%
P>0.05)
clinical signs were improved at different degree in both groups. There was few severe drug-related adverse event. Conclusion: Sound efficacy in the improvement of clinical signs
and hepatic functions could be obtained from treatment with domestic GSH on the ALD accompanied with good safety.
