Study of the preventions and treatments of transurethral resection syndrome during transurethral resection of prostate(with a report of 318 case)
Objective:To study the preventions and treatments of transurethral resection syndrome(TURS) during transurethral resection of prostate(TURP).Methods:Three hundred and eighteen cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia undergoing TURP were included in this retrospective analysis.Data were analyzed in terms of the operation time
the perforation of prostate capsule
diuretic use and the incidence of TURS.Results:Among 19 cases with the perforation of prostate capsule
14 cases were diagnosed as TURS(73.7 percent)
and among 16 cases with long operating time(over 90 minutes)
9 cases diagnosed as TURS(56.3 percent).For 36 cases with long operating time(over 60 minutes)
the incidence of TURS was 23.1% with the prophylactic use of diuretics
and the incidence was 38.4% without the prophylactic use of diuretics. The perforation of prostate capsule and long operating time significantly increased the incidence of TURS(P<0.05)
and the prophylactic use of diuretics significantly reduced the incidence of TURS(P<0.05) in the cases with long operating time(over 60 minutes). Conclusion:Avoiding the perforation of prostate capsule and shortening the operating time are the effective measures in the prevention of TURS
and the prophylactic use of diuretics is necessary in the cases with long operating time(over 60 minutes).
