Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Bupi Yishen decoction combined with blood purification in the treatment of chronic renal failure. Methods Ninety-two patients with chronic renal failure admitted to our hospital from October 2019 to December 2020 were selected as the study subjects. They were assigned to the observation group and control group according to a random number table

with 46 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received blood purification

and patients in the observation group received Bupi Yishen decoction on top of treatment in the control group. The clinical efficacy

and adverse reactions during treatment were observed before treatment and after 8 weeks of treatment in the two groups. Results The overall response rate of the observation group was 91.30%

which was significantly higher than that of the control group（73.91%）（P<0.05）. Before treatment

there was no significant difference in serum creatinine（Scr）

blood urea nitrogen（BUN） and creatinine clearance rate（Ccr） between the two groups（all P>0.05）. After 8 weeks of treatment

BUN and Ccr levels in the observation group were better than those in the concurrent control group after treatment

and the differences were statistically significant（all P<0.05）. Before treatment

there was no significant difference in malondialdehyde（MDA）

glutathione peroxidase（GSH-Px）

and superoxide dismutase（SOD） between the two groups（all P>0.05）. After 8 weeks of treatment

and SOD levels in the observation group were statistically superior to those in the concurrent control group after treatment（all P<0.05）. The incidence of adverse reactions during treatment in the observation group was 15.22%

which was higher than that in the control group（10.87%）

but the difference was not statistically significant（P>0.05）. Conclusion The Bupi Yishen decoction combined with blood purification in treating spleen-kidney qi deficiencyrelated chronic renal failure can significantly improve renal function and reduce the level of oxidative stress in patients

with marked effects and high safety profile. These benefits justify a wider application of this technique in clinical practice.
