Observation on the therapeutic effect of TCM pattern types differentiation-based acupuncture on cervical spondylotic arteriopathy
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of TCM pattern types differentiation-based acupuncture on cervical spondylotic arteriopathy(CSA) accompanied by dizziness
headache and insomnia. Methods A total of 126 patients with CSA admitted to a hospital in Shenyang from April 2019 to April 2021 were selected as the subjects and assigned to the control group and the observation group by the random number table
with 63 cases in each group. The patients in the control group received conventional acupuncture
and the patients in the observation group TCM pattern types differentiation-based acupuncture. Patients in both groups received continuous treatment for 15 days. The clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups. The Evaluation scale for cervical vertigo(ESCV) score
Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) score
mean blood flow velocity of right vertebral artery(RVA)
mean blood flow velocity of left vertebral artery(LVA)
mean blood flow velocity of the basilar artery(BA) and caliber of left and right vertebral arteries before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of clinical treatment in the observation group was 93.65%
which was higher than that in the control group(80.95%)
with statistical significance(P<0.05). After treatment
vertigo
shoulder and neck pain
headache
daily living and work
psychological and social adaptation scores and total scores in the ESCV scale in the two groups were higher than those before treatment
and the observation group was higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment
the sleep quality
sleep onset time
sleep duration
sleep efficiency
sleep disorders
hypnotic drugs
daytime dysfunction score
and total score in the PSQI scale in the two groups were lower than those before treatment
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The sleep quality

sleep time

sleep disorder
daytime dysfunction score
and total score in the PSQI scale in the observation group were lower than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The mean blood flow velocity of LVA
RVA
and BA and the caliber of left and right vertebral arteries in the two groups were higher than those before treatment
and the observation group was higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion TCM pattern types differentiationbased acupuncture can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of patients with CSA accompanied by dizziness
headache
and insomnia
and improve the hemodynamic parameters of the vertebral artery. Its effectiveness and advantages justify a wider application of this procedure in clinical practice.
