Effectiveness of comprehensive preventive care in patients with endodontic disease
Objective To explore the effectiveness of comprehensive preventive care in patients with endodontic disease. Methods A total of 98 patients with endodontic disease in an outpatient clinic of a hospital in Henan Province from August 2019 to October 2020 were selected as subjects. The patients admitted from August 2019 to February 2020 were classified as the control group(n=49)
the patients admitted from March to October 2020 were classified into the study group(n=49). Patients in the control group received conventional care
and patients in the study group comprehensive preventive care in addition to the conventional care. The incidence of oral infection and halitosis was compared between the two groups at 1 month of intervention; the health awareness level of the two groups was assessed before and at 1 month of intervention using our own health awareness assessment scale. Results The incidence of oral infection and halitosis in the study group were 2.04% and 2.04%
respectively
which were lower than those in the control group(16.33% and 18.37%)
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). At 1 month of intervention
the health awareness assessment scale scores of patients in both groups were higher than those before the intervention
with the study group higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Comprehensive preventive care can improve the health awareness of patients with endodontic disease
enhance hygiene management and oral condition
and yield significant clinical effects. These benefits justify a wider application of this intervention clinically.
