The efficacy of Snyder therapy combined with rehabilitation training in patients with acute ischemic stroke
Objective To investigate the rehabilitation efficacy of Snyder therapy combined with rehabilitation training in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS). Methods A total of 104 patients with AIS admitted to a hospital in Luoyang City from January 2017 to January 2020 were selected as subjects. They were assigned to a study group and a control group using the random number table method
with 52 cases in each group. Patients in the study group received Snyder therapy combined with rehabilitation training
while patients in the control group received the conventional therapy
and both groups received continuous treatment for 8 weeks. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)
Mini-Mental Status Exam(MMSE) scores and activity of daily living(modified Barthel index) were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results The total effective rate of treatment for patients in the study group was 94.23%
which was higher than that in the control group(76.92%)
with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks of intervention
the patients in the study group had lower Water Swallow Test scores and Standardized Swallowing Assessment(SSA) scores than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks of intervention
the NIHSS scores were lower and the MMSE scores were higher in the study group than those in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks of intervention
the activity of daily living was higher in the study group than that in the control group
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Snyder therapy in combination with rehabilitation training intervention can effectively improve the neurological deficits of AIS patients and enhance their life activities. These advantages justify a wider application of this procedure clinically.
