Effects of early rehabilitation therapy on neurological and motor functions and activity of daily living in patients with hemiplegia caused by cerebral infarction
Objective To investigate the effects of different stages of rehabilitation on neurological and motor functions and activity of daily living in patients with hemiplegia caused by cerebral infarction. Methods Sixty patients with hemiplegia resulting from cerebral infarction admitted to a hospital in Guangzhou from October 2019 to December 2020 were selected as subjects and assigned to an early rehabilitation group(30 cases) and late rehabilitation group(30 cases) using the random number table method.Patients in the early rehabilitation group underwent early rehabilitation within 2 weeks along with basic medication
while patients in the late rehabilitation group underwent late rehabilitation treatment after 4 weeks of basic medication
and both groups received continued treatment for 2 weeks. The Fugl-Meyer motor function scores
Barthel index
National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) scores and quality of life scores were compared before and after treatment in the 2 groups. Results After treatment
the Fugl-Meyer motor function score
Barthel index score
and quality of life score of patients in the early rehabilitation group were higher than those in the late rehabilitation group
and the NIHSS score was lower than that in the late rehabilitation group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Early rehabilitation can effectively reduce the degree of neurological deficits in patients with hemiplegia caused by cerebral infarction
improve patients’ motor function
ability of daily living and quality of life
and is worth promoting its application in clinical practice.
