Effects of the family participatory care model on hope level, cancer-caused fatigue and quality of life of lung cancer patients
Objective To explore the effects of the family participatory care model on hope level
cancer-caused fatigue and quality of life of lung cancer patients. Methods Eighty-eight cases of lung cancer patients admitted to a hospital in Nanyang from November 2018 to November 2020 were selected as study subjects and divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method
44 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were given conventional care and the observation group were given family participatory care
and the patients in both groups were continuously cared for 1 month. The Herth Hope Index(HHI)
cancer-caused fatigue [Cancer Fatigue Scale(CFS)] and quality of life [Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General(FACT-G)] scores of the patients in the 2 groups before and at 1 month of intervention were compared. Results Before intervention
there was no statistically significant difference between the HHI and FACT-G scores of the 2 groups(P>0.05); after the intervention
the HHI and FACT-G scores of the 2 groups were higher than before the intervention
and the observation group was higher than the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Before the intervention
there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of somatic fatigue
cognitive fatigue and emotional fatigue between the 2 groups(P>0.05); after the intervention
the scores of somatic fatigue
cognitive fatigue and emotional fatigue in the 2 groups were lower than before the intervention
and significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P <0.05). Conclusion The family participatory care model is effective in the treatment of lung cancer patients and can improve patients’ hope level
cancer-caused fatigue status and quality of life.
