A study on the effectiveness of care bundle intervention on the prevention of delirium in alzheimer’s patients
Objective To explore the prevention effect of care bundle intervention on delirium in patients with dementia. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with Alzheimer’s disease accompanied by delirium who were treated in a hospital in Shangqiu city from January 2019 to June 2021 were selected as study subjects and divided into a control group and an observation group according to the random number table method
with 60 cases each. The patients in the control group were given conventional nursing interventions
while the observation group was given care bundle interventions
and the patients in both groups were continuously nursed for 6 months. The occurrence of delirium and the duration of delirium in the two groups were compared
and the quality of life of the patients in the two groups before and after care was compared. Results The incidence of delirium in the control group was 16.67%(10/60)
which was higher than that in the observation group(8.33%
5/60)
and the difference was statistically significant(χ~2=5.485
P=0.023);the duration of delirium in the observation group was(2.18±1.36)min
which was significantly shorter than that in the control group [(5.24±2.58)min]
and the difference was statistically significant(t=8.127
P<0.001).Before care
there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of somatic function
social communicative ability
physical activity
and psycho-emotional scores between the 2 groups of patients(P>0.05).After nursing care
the scores of somatic function
social communicative ability
organism activity ability
and psycho-emotional scores of patients in the 2 groups were higher than those before nursing care and higher in the observation group than in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Care bundle intervention can reduce the incidence of delirium
shorten the duration of delirium and improve the quality of life of patients with dementia
