Effect of PRP treatment on wound recovery in patients with chronic refractory wounds
Objective To investigate the effect of platelet-rich plasma(PRP) treatment on wound recovery in patients with chronic refractory wounds. Methods Eighty-six patients with chronic refractory wounds treated in a hospital in Dazhou from July 2019 to February 2021 were selected for the study
and the patients were randomly divided into a control group and a research group
with 43 cases each. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional dressing changes
while the patients in the research group were treated with PRP. The length of hospital stay
the rate of complete wound healing
and the length
width
and depth of the wounds at 90 d of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment
the differences in wound size(length
width and depth) between the two groups were not statistically significant(P
>
0.05). At 90 d of treatment
the wound size(length
width and depth) of the patients in the research group was significantly smaller than that in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P
<
0.01). The hospitalization time of the patients in the research group was significantly shorter than that in the control group
and the difference was statistically significant(P
<
0.01); the complete wound healing rate of patients in the observation group was 90.70%(39/43)
which was significantly higher than that of the control group(72.09%
31/43)
and the difference was statistically significant(χ
2
=4.914
P=0.027). Conclusion PRP treatment for chronic refractory wounds is not only easy to operate
but also can effectively reduce the degree of damage to the patient’s organism and promote wound healing
which is economical and practical and has high application value and social benefits.
