Analysis of the current situation of public CPR awareness and influencing factors in the central urban area of Chongqing
Objective To understand the current status of public cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) awareness and its influencing factors in the central urban area of Chongqing. Methods Eight hundred and fifty members of the public in the central urban area of Chongqing were surveyed for their CPR attitudes and knowledge using a web-based electronic questionnaire
and the data were statistically analyzed. Results The CPR attitude score of the respondents was 22.56 ± 5.28.The total score for CPR knowledge of the survey respondents was 31.51 ±12.89
and the pass rate was 28.35%.Among them
the survey respondents had the highest pass rate of57.29 % for the CPR basic knowledge section and the lowest pass rate of 28.00% for the airway management and artificial respiration knowledge section. The results of univariate analysis showed that the differences in the pass rate of CPR knowledge were statistically significant(P<0.05) among survey respondents with different ageeducation occupation
monthly income
family illness
CPR knowledge exposure
encounter with CPR
and CPR training.Multi-factor logistic regression analysis showed that age(OR=1.514)
medical workers(OR=3.923)
whether they had heard of CPR(OR=0.200)
whether they had encountered CPR(OR=2.391) and whether they had received CPR training(OR=4.690) were all influential factors in whether the survey respondents were qualified in CPR knowledge or not(P <0.05).Conclusion The public CPR knowledge qualification rate in the central urban area of Chongqing is low
and the attitude for CPR implementation needs to be improved. In the future
the popularization of CPR should be strengthened
and CPR training should be promoted in the form of entering the institutes/units
schools
enterprises and communities
focusing on the practice and personal experience of the training subjects
and retraining should be carried out in due course.
