Objective To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on pulmonary function and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema.Methods One hundred and eighty cases of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema admitted to a hospital in Chongqing from August 2019 toΛugust 2020 were selected for the study and divided into observation and control groups using a random number table method

with 90 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received conventional nursing methods

while patients in the observation group were given comprehensive nursing intervention.The forced vital capacity（FVC）

the Tiffeneau-Pinelli index（FEV/FVC）

the maximal mid-expiratory flow（MMEF）

the peak expiratory flow（PEF） and the EORTC-QLQC30 scores before and after the intervention were compared between the two groups.The patients’ compliance and satisfaction with nursing care were also compared.Results Before the nursing intervention

there was no statistically.significant difference in the levels of FVC

FEV

/FVC

MMEF and PEF between the two groups（P>0.05）;after the nursing intervention

the levels of FVC

FEV1/FVC

MMEF and PEF in the two groups were higher than before the intervention

and those in the observation group were significantly higher than the control group（P<0.05）.Before the nursing intervention

there was no statisticallysignificant difference between the EORTC-QLQC30 scores between patients in the two groups in any dimensions（P>0.05）;after the nursing intervention

all the dimensions of EORTC-QLQC30 scores of patients in the two groups were higher than before the intervention

and those in the observation group were significantly higher than the control group（P<0.05）.The observation group had higher nursing compliance and satisfaction than the control groupand the differences were statistically significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion Comprehensive nursing interventions can help improve pulmonary function and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema

and thus are recommended in clinical nursing work.
