Advances in the evaluation of myofascial trigger points
treatments based on myofascial trigger points(MTrPs) theory have been increasingly used in pain rehabilitation. The accuracy of MTr Ps localization and assessment directly affects the clinical efficacy. Currently
the assessment of MTr Ps mainly relies on manual palpation
the reliability of which is related to the skill of the assessor. Scholars have been exploring more accurate and objective assessment modalities. Currently
musculoskeletal ultrasound
magnetic resonance imaging and infrared thermography are commonly used in clinical practice to assess MTr Ps from the dimensions of imaging and functional medicine
which have certain value. However
no uniform conclusions have been reported for quantitative assessment. In this paper
we briefly introduce the progress of research on the assessment of MTrPs through a review.
