Citespace-based analysis of hot spots and trends of research on care for the disabled elderly
Objective To comprehensively analyze the current research status of care for the disabled elderly in China in the past 10 years
in order to discover the research hotspots and development trends of care for the disabled elderly in China and provide references for future research. Methods The China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) database was selected as the source of literature. The literature in the field of care for the disabled elderly published from 2010 to 2020 was retrieved
and the number of publications was counted. Citespace.5.7.R3 was used to visualize and analyze the knowledge graph of authors
research institutions
and keywords of the sample literature. Results The total number of valid papers included in this study was 531. The overall number of publications showed an increasing trend year by year from 2010 to 2020. The lowest number of publications(6) appeared in 2011 and 2019 saw the highest number of publications(101). The clustered knowledge map of research institutions and authors shows that research institutions and authors are mainly concentrated in major universities and research institutes
and the network structure of the whole knowledge map is relatively scattered without forming obvious clustering modules
indicating that scholars and institutions in the research field of care for the disabled elderly have few academic communications and cooperations. The top 10 high-frequency keywords were extracted from the keyword co-occurrence knowledge map
which were
in order
elderly with disabilities
longterm care
family caregivers
disability
caregivers
social support
influencing factors
elderly with disabilities in rural areas
rural areas
and demand. As for the top emerging keywords
we can see that the top emerging keywords in 2013 were "care services"
and the top emerging keywords in 2013-2014 were "family care" and "institutional care" respectively. The most trending keywords in 2014-2015 were "response" and "qualitative research". The strongest emergent keyword in 2018-2020 was "aging". The keyword timeline shows that the fields of long-term care
caregivers
and the elderly have been focused on since 2010. The three fields of primary caregivers
qualitative research
and impact factor analysis received attention from domestic scholars in 2012.The field of rural elderly with disabilities gradually received less attention from 2018 onwards. Conclusion The areas of sustained attention by domestic scholars are issues related to long-term care and caregivers of the disabled elderly. In terms of caregivers of the disabled elderly
scholars focused on exploring the responsibilities and caregiving of family caregivers in the care of the disabled elderly
which indicates that family eldercare remains the primary choice in the long-term care of the disabled elderly. Meanwhile
the intensity of keywords in four clustering areas
namely
long-term care
primary caregiver
family caregiver
and analysis of influencing factors
showed increasing intensity with time
indicating that the research areas of long-term care for the disabled elderly
the subject of caregiving
and the influencing factors of caregiving will continue to draw attention in the future.
