Expression of IMP3, survivin, and VEGF in osteosarcoma and their relationship with tumor microvessel density
Objective To investigate the expression of insulin-like growth factor Ⅱ mRNA-binding protein 3(IMP3)
survivin)
and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in osteosarcoma and their relationship with tumor microvessel density(MVD). Methods Sixty-four patients with osteosarcoma admitted to a hospital in Liaoning Province from June 2017 to June 2019 were selected as the study subjects
and 34 patients with osteochondroma were selected as the control group. The IMP3
survivin and VEGF expression levels and MVD of osteosarcoma and osteochondroma were analyzed by immunohistochemical SP method. The relationship between IMP3
survivin
and VEGF expression levels and MVD
as well as their relationship with general information and clinicopathological characteristics of osteosarcoma patients
were analyzed. Results The positive rates of IMP3
survivin
and VEGF expression and MVD levels were higher in the osteosarcoma group than in the osteochondroma group
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). In the osteosarcoma group
the MVD expression level of patients with positive expression of IMP3
survivin and VEGF was higher than those with negative expression
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that the staining scores for IMP3
survivin
and VEGF in osteosarcoma were positively correlated with MVD levels(P <0.05). The differences were not statistically significant(P >0.05) when comparing the positive rates of IMP3
survivin
and VEGF in patients with osteosarcoma of different sexes
ages and clinical stages; the differences were not statistically significant(P >0.05) when comparing the positive rates of IMP3 in patients with osteosarcoma of different pathological grades and metastases; the differences were not statistically significant(P >0.05) when comparing the positive rates of survivin in patients with osteosarcoma with and without metastases; the positive rates of survivin and VEGF were higher in patients with poorly differentiated osteosarcoma than in patients with well-differentiated osteosarcoma
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05); the positive rates of VEGF were higher in patients with metastatic osteosarcoma than in patients without metastasis
and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). Conclusion The expression of IMP3
survivin
and VEGF correlates with MVD levels and the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with osteosarcoma
and the assessment of the expression of IMP3
survivin
and VEGF in patients with osteosarcoma is beneficial to determining the condition of patients.
