Expression of inflammatory factors, TGF-β1 and IGF-1 in patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures and its clinical significance
Objective To investigate the expression of inflammatory factors
TGF-β1 and IGF-1 in patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar spine fractures and its clinical significance. Methods Fifty-two patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures admitted to a hospital in Liaoning Province from January 2018 to January 2020 were selected as the study group and divided into type I
type II
type III and type IV according to Heini classification standard
and 50 healthy patients who underwent physical examination in the same period were selected as the control group. Serum IGF-1
TGF-β1
IL-6 and IL-12 levels were compared between the two groups and the patients with different Heini types in the study group. Results Serum IGF-1 and TGF-β1 levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group
while IL-6 and IL-12 levels were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The serum levels of IGF-1
TGF-β1
IL-6 and IL-12 in patients with different Heini types were all statistically significantly different(P<0.05). Tests involving the patients with different Heini types show that type Ⅰ>type Ⅱ> type Ⅲ>type Ⅳ in terms of serum levels of IGF-1 and TGF-β1
and the difference in each comparison was statistically significant(P<0.05); tests involving the patients with different Heini types show that type Ⅰ<type Ⅱ<type Ⅲ<type Ⅳ in terms of serum levels of IL-6 and IL-12
and the difference in each comparison was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion There is a close relationship between Heini type and serum levels of IGF-1
TGF-β1
IL-6
and IL-12 in patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures. As the Heini type increases
the serum levels of IL-6 and IL-12 increase
while those of IGF-1 and TGF-β1 decrease. These levels can be an important index to assess the prognosis and clinical outcome of patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures.
