Effects of Tai chi sports combined with music therapy on limb movement function and quality of life in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage
Objective To assess the effects of Tai Chi sports combined with music therapy on limb movement function
psychological status and quality of life in patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage. Methods Seventy-four patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage who were treated at a Henan hospital between March2016 and June 2017 were included in this study.Based on a random number table
patients were divided into the control group(routine rehabilitation training)and the trial group(routine rehabilitation training+ Tai Chi sports+music therapy)
37 patients in each group. The limb movement function
psychological status and quality of life were assessed and compared between the two groups both at baseline and 1 month. Results At 1 month
the proportion of patients with movement dysfunction was reduced from baseline in both groups(trial group
48.65%versus 94.60%;control group
75.68%versus 97.30%)
with a significantly greater reduction in the trial group compared with the control group(P<0.05).At 1 month
the HAMD and HAMA scores in the trial group were 7.2±3.0 and 8.2±2.5
respectively
which were significantly lower than those at baseline(15.8±3.6 and 14.8±3.0
respectively
P<0.05);the HAMD and HAMA scores in the control group were9.5±3.1 and 10.2±2.8
respectively
which were also significantly lower than those at baseline(15.7±3.3 and14.5±2.7
respectively
P<0.05).At 1 month
both the HAMD and HAMA scores in the trial group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).At 1 month
the scores in the dimensions of bodily pain
vitality
mental health
role emotional
and role physical of SF-36 were improved from baseline in both groups
with significantly greater improvements in the trial group compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion As compared with routine rehabilitation treatment alone
the addition of Tai Chi sports and music therapy is more effective in restoring limb movement function
improving negative emotions and quality of life
which deserves widespread clinical application.
