Efficacy of cinobufotalin for the treatment of primary liver cancer-related pain
Objective To assess the clinical efficacy of cinobufotalin for the treatment of primary liver cancer-related pain. Methods A total of 40 patients having primary liver cancer with moderate to severe pain who were treated at a Henan hospital between June 2013 and June 2017 were included in this study.Based on a random number table
patients were divided into the trial group and the control group
20 patients in each group.Patients in the control group received oral morphine sustained-release tablets
while those in the trial group received oral morphine plus intravenous cinobufotalin
for up to 14 days. The visual analogue scale(VAS)
the dose of morphine used
and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment
the VAS score was similar between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment
the VAS score was reduced in both groups
with a significantly greater reduction in the trial group(P<0.05).The dose of morphine used throughout the treatment period was significantly lower in the trial group than that in the control group(P<0.05).A greater improvement in the quality of life was also observed in the trial group compared with that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Cinobufotalin combined with sustained-release morphine is effective in relieving primary liver cancer-related pain
