Clinical efficacy of integrative Chinese and Western medicine in treating perimenopausal syndrome
Objective To assess the effects of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine on the sex hormone levels and quality of life in patients with perimenopausal syndrome. Methods A total of 200 patients with perimenopausal syndrome treated at a Shenyang hospital between September 2016 and March 2017 were included in this study.Using a random number table
we randomly divided these patients into the trial group and the control group
100 patients in each group.Patients in the control group received oral estradiol valerate alone
while those in the trial group received oral estradiol valerate plus Danggui Liuhuang Decoction. The pre-and post-treatment luteinizing hormone(LH)
as well as Self-reporting Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90)
Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)
Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36)scores were compared between the two groups. Results The pre-treatment LH
FSH and T levels were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).The post-treatment LH and FSH levels were decreased in both groups compared with their pretreatment levels
and they were significantly lower in the trial group than those in the control group(P <0.05).The post-treatment T level was increased in both groups compared with its pre-treatment level
and it were significantly higher in the trial group than that in the control group(P <0.05).The pre-treatment scores of 9 symptom factors in SCL-90 were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05);the post-treatment scores of 9 symptom factors in SCL-90 were decreased in both groups compared with their pre-treatment scores
and they were significantly lower in the trial group than those in the control group(P<0.05).The pre-treatment SAS and SDS scores were similar between the two groups(P>0.05);the post-treatment SAS and SDS scores were reduced in both groups compared with their pre-treatment scores
and they were significantly lower in the trial group than those in the control group(P<0.05).The pre-treatment scores of the 8 dimensions of SF-36 were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05);the post-treatment scores of the 8 dimensions of SF-36 were elevated in both groups compared with their pre-treatment scores
and they were significantly higher in the trial group than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with perimenopausal syndrome
Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine is effective in regulating sex hormone levels and improving quality of life
which deserves widespread clinical application.
