Objective To investigate feeding

growth and development status of children under 3year-old in Yibin

and provide reference to nutrition intervention for children.Methods From January 2015 to January2016

1 426 children under 3year-old who were had their child health care were selected randomly for investigation on the status of feeding

growth and development

then all the actors related with children′growth and development were measured with unified child health care procedures and all the feeding and caring patterns were surveyed by children′growth and development status questionnaire among children under 3year-old.The standard deviation was used to evaluate the growth and development of children on the bases of age/height

age/weight

height/mass.Results Among these children

269 children were detected of abnormal growth and development.The total incidence rate（IR）of abnormal growth and development was 18.9%

including 95 of growth retardation（6.7%）

44 of low body weight（3.1%）

57 of emaciation（4.0%）and 73 of obesity（5.1%）.Comparing the IR of obesity between children with different gender

the differences were significant（P<0.05）.There were significant differences of incidence rate of abnormal growth and development among feeding patterns and residence（P<0.05）.When compared in pairs

the IR of abnormal growth and development of children fed by mothers was lower than that of children fed with milk substitute.The IR of abnormal growth and development of children living in rural area was higher than that of children from cities or villages and towns.And the differences were significant.Conclusion The IR of abnormal growth and development of children in Yibin is high and the IR of abnormal growth and development was higher than that of other regions′children when non-breast feeding or residence was considered

so it is essential to strengthen health education

enhance consciousness of rational feeding and popularize scientific feeding to promote the growth and development of children under 3year-old in Yinbin.
