Objective To understand the relationship between sense of school belonging and achievement of university students.Method 540 university students were investigated by adopting questionnaires to explore their sense of school belonging and motivation for achievement.Results The scores of male students were higher than female students in the aspect of the motivation for pursuing success

while the scores of female students were higher than male students in terms of the motivation for avoiding failure.The differences were statistically significant（P<0.01）.University students’sense of school belonging and the total scores showed positive relationship with pursuing success and motivation for success（P<0.01）

and had negative relationship with peer recognition and avoiding failure（P<0.05）.The regression equations of pursuing success and peer recognition were statistically significant withβvalue of 0.278 and 0.146 respectively.Conclusion The motivation for college students achievement has gender difference.Sense of school belonging

one of the predictors

has relationship with motivation for achievement.
