Effect of Transitional Care Intervention on the Quality of Life in Patients with COPD
Objective To probe into the effect of transitional care intervention on the quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Method 125cases of patients with COPD received from January
2011to January
2012 were randomly divided into experimental group with 65cases and control group with 60cases.Patients in the control group were given routine instructions on their discharge while those in the experimental group received transitional care intervention.Pulmonary function before and after experiment was tested
including such indexes as forced vital capacity(FVC)and forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1).The quality of life in patients from the two groups was graded and compared using the Quality of Life(QOL)Questionnaire. Results Percentage of FEV1in the predicted value(FEV1%)in the experimental group after intervention was(83.61±7.95)
which was higher than that of(75.71±5.31)in the control group.Percentage of FEV1in FVC(FEV1/FVC)in the experimental group after intervention was(77.53±4.48)
which was higher than that of(68.94±4.48)in the control group;Overall grades of QOL and grade of each dimension in the experimental group after intervention were all higher than the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(p<0.05).Conclusion Transitional care contributes to improving pulmonary functions of patients and their quality of life.
