Objective To improve the diagnostic level of thyroid carcinoma through discussion on imaging features of bone metastases from thyroid carcinoma.Method Imaging data of 20cases of patients with thyroid carcinoma from 2011to 2012was analyzed retrospectively.Results 20cases of patients all had bone metastases from thyroid carcinoma.There were 14cases in which bone metastases were found earlier and thyroid carcinoma was diagnosed later;there were 6cases in which primary tumor of the thyroid carcinoma was found earlier and bone metastases were diagnosed later.Bone metastases in 12case of patients were mainly in bones of the upper body segment.8cases was of osteolytic type

which was shown as large flake and map like bone defects and cryptomere destruction zone;4cases of osteoblastic type

which was shown as flake and cotton wool like dense shadow.Conclusion Thyroid carcinoma can easily present with bone metastases which are mainly of osteolytic type

and there are also osteoblastic metastases.X ray and CT examination have characteristic improvement and can provide reliable image basis for diagnosis of thyroid carcinoma.
