Objective To have knowledge about the curative effect of povidone iodine in treating superficial dermatomycosis.Method 220 cases of patients with superficial dermatomycosis who were diagnosed after clinical and mycologic examination in the out-patient were chosen and their infected parts were greased with povidone iodine

and the curative effect was observed.Results There were 137 cases that were cured

which accounted for 62.3%;there were 47 cases who had obvious effects accounting for 21.4%;there were 30 cases whose conditions were improved

accounting for 13.6%;and there were only 6 cases who had not any effects

which accounted for 2.7%.Conclusion Povidone iodine is convenient for use in treating superficial dermatomycosis with a good curative effect

which is worth promoting in basic medical units.
