Objective To investigate the effect of medical intervention on the occurrence of training injuries of a troop from a special administrative region (SAR) in the southern of China. Methods Two army camps were randomly divided into intervention group and control group. The intervention group was trained in accordance with the interventions. While
the control group was trained with conventional methods without undergoing any intervention. The incidence of training injuries was observed within 3 months of training. Results Injuries of bone joints
soft tissue
lower back were quite common. Implementation of medical intervention effectively reduced the incide
nce of injuries in military training from 30.60% in the control group to 21.34% in the intervention group
and especially reduced the incidence significantly in newly recruited soldiers than in the old ones (41.04%
vs
27.37%). Medical intervention also reduced the incidence of bone joints injuries (37.79%
vs
32.82%) and soft tissue injuries (26.74%
vs
22.90%). Conclusion Implementation of medical intervention can effectively reduce the incidence of injuries in military training.
