Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation of microRNA-206 (miRNA-206) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with genetic predispostion and early recurrence after resection of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods A total of 378 subjects
including 128 patients with HBV-related HCC (HCC group)
121 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB group) and 129 normal controls (control group)
were enrolled in this study. Bioinformatics methods were used to predict and screen 3 SNPs (rs16882131
rs69020648
rs945210) in miRNA-206 gene promoter regulatory region
and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry analysis was adopted to detect the genotypes of the 3 SNPs in miRNA-206 gene. The correlation between genetic variants and the risk of HCC was analyzed
and the impact of mutations on HCC early recurrence was assessed. Results The distributions of genotypes and alleles of miRNA-206 rs16882131 were significantly different among the 3 groups. The CC genotype and C allele were associated with reduced risk of HCC (OR=0.354
95%CI: 0.163~0.771; OR=0.182
95% CI: 0.124~0.267). Conclusion MiRNA-206 rs16882131 polymorphism may be associated with the genetic predispostion of HBV-related HCC
but not associated with the early reccurence of HCC.
