Objective      To determine the clinical outcome of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) in autologous skin grafting

especially the grafting in special areas.       Methods      A total of 29 patients with skin soft tissue defects (including head and neck

joints and other parts) caused by various reasons admitted in our hospital from March 2014 to March 2015 were enrolled in this study. They all received autologous skin grafting and then VSD. The survival of skin graft and incidences of complications were recorded to evaluate the effect of VSD.       Results      All 29 patients achieved good outcomes after autologous skin grafting combined with VSD. The rate of all skin graft survival was 86.2%

and no second skin grafting or serious complications occurred.       Conclusion      VSD applied after autologous skin grafting promotes the skin graft survival

and has few effect on the daily life of the patients. The overall outcome is satisfactory

and thus

VSD presents to be valuable in clinical application.
