Objective To determine the expression profile of miRNA-205 in the patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods Matched ESCC and corresponding adjacent non-cancerous tissue samples were obtained from 56 patients who were pathologically diagnosed with ESCC and surgically treated in our hospital from August to December 2014. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression levels of miRNA-205
and the results were analyzed with clinicopathological parameters. Results The expression level of miRNA-205 was 1.475 (0.444~5.478) in ESCC tissues
significantly higher than that in the corresponding adjacent non-cancerous tissues (Z=-3.067
P=0.002). The expression level of miRNA-205 in ESCC tissues was well correlated with TNM stages
with the higher expression level
the higher grade of the TNM stages (F=36.335
P<0.001). Its expression level was higher in the patients with metastatic lymph node than those without (Z=-3.353,P=0.001). Conclusion The expression level of miRNA-205 is up-regulated in ESCC
and it might be involved in the initiation and progression of ESCC.
