Objective       To determine the influencing factors on the prognosis of sudden hearing loss (SHL) for its early treatment.        Methods       The medical records of 143 cases (155 ears) with SHL hospitalized from Oct. 2010 to Sep. 2011 in our department of otorhinolaryngology were collected and retrospectively investigated. the duration of treatment and treatment protocol were analyzed with univariate approaches. Meanwhile

prognostic factors were screened and analyzed with multivariate Logistic regression analysis.       Results       The total efficient rate of this study was 69.0%. Univariate analysis showed that there were 3 factors

time during onset to treatment

vertigo and degree of hearing loss

had significantly differences (P0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that time during onset to treatment (P0.000 1) and degree of hearing loss (P=0.029 4) were prognostic factors of SHL.       Conclusion       For the patients with earlier treatment or mild degree of hearing loss

the hearing outcome is better.
