Objective To assess the association between UDP glucuronosyl transferase 2 family
polypeptide B15 (UGT2B15) gene D85Y polymorphism and prostate cancer. Methods By searching PubMed
Embase
and CBM databases
all of the eligible studies which conformed to our inclusion criteria were harvested. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the strength of the association. Begg’s and Egger’s tests were used to evaluate publication bias. Results A total of 6 articles (817 cases and 1 000 controls) were analyzed in our study. On the whole
significant associations between UGT2B15 gene D85Y polymorphism and prostate cancer were found in all genetic models (additive model: OR=0.72
95% CI=0.58 to 0.89; dominant model: OR=0.53
95% CI=0.35 to 0.81; recessive model: OR=0.77
95% CI=0.61 to 0.98; YY vs DD genotype: OR=0.53
95% CI=0.32 to 0.88; YD vs DD genotype: OR=0.55
95% CI=0.35 to 0.86). Conclusion UGT2B15 Y85 might be a protective factor against prostate cancer.
