Objective    To study the clinical application of multi-slice helical CT-curved planar reformation (MSHCT-CPR) in diagnosis of stones in middle-inferior segment of ureter.     Methods    MSHCT abdominal scanning data of 31 patients (19 males

12 females) at an average age of 41.6 years (range 17～81 years) admitted to Chongqing Yubei People’s Hospital from November 2008 to November 2009 due to highly suspicious stones in middle-inferior segment of ureter were retrospectively analyzed. CPR images of the whole ureter processed at a workstation were analyzed in combination of the primary cross section images.     Results    Of the 46 stones found in 31 patients

25 were located at the inlet of bladder in the end of ureter and 21 were located in the middle-inferior segment of ureter. Multiple stones were detected in 11 patients and single stones were detected in 20 patients. The diagnosis was further confirmed during operation or at ureteroscopy.     Conclusion    MSHCT-CPR can effectively show the location

and has the unique advantages in differential diagnosis between vascular wall calcification near the ureter and phlebolith.
